Jackie is a single mom of two living in Circleville, Ohio. She had been laid off after working 5 years for a company in Columbus, which included a commute of more than 45 minutes one way. Though having years of customer service experience and intermediate computer skills, Jackie was having a difficult time finding employment. She went to her local Jewish Family Services for assistance and was referred to the Digital Works center in Logan. Despite having the use of only one hand to type with due to a disability, Jackie had no trouble completing the online training program and graduated in March.
Jackie was immediately hired as a representative with Maritz and LiveOps. Just a few months later, she was also hired by Verafast. Jackie is working from home and no longer has to commute to an office. She is able to set her own schedule and is providing for her family.
“I love working at home,” said Jackie. “I get to work in a t-shirt and shorts.”
Jackie looks forward to advancing quickly in her new online customer support career.
“I want to continue bettering myself and keep working toward advanced opportunities,” she said.
Jackie feels Digital Works is a great solution for anyone having trouble finding a job or if someone wants flexible hours or wants to work from home.
“If a one-handed person can do it, you’d better believe a two-handed person can,” said Jackie.
