Fort Campbell, Ky (July 21, 2020) –“Digital Works Provides Virtual Training and Job Placement Assistance to ALL Kentucky Military Spouses, Veterans, and Veteran Spouses.” That was the heading of a social media post that caught Angela Mosqueda’s attention as she searched for remote work options late one evening.
“As soon as I read that, I registered on their website, and Ireceived a call the following day. They explained the details of the program to me and I was amazed at how quick the process was,” she says. “I completed assessments online followed by a phone interview, and I started class the following week!”
The class aims to provide students with the skills they need to work in a remote telework position. When asked what she gained the most from class, Angela says: “It really refreshed my customer service skills; it taught me proper interview skills and résumé writing techniques at no cost to me.”
Angela took the skills she learned and applied with a company that was introduced to her in class. Digital Works has established relationships with over 70 vendors, enabling students to become familiar with those companies and feel confident when applying for positions. She was hired and is completing her new-employee training, which entails learning the company’s software and how to handle live calls with actual customers. Her new telework career is allowing her to work from the comfort and safety of her home.
Angela is thrilled about this chapter in her life. She and her husband just celebrated 28 years of marriage and watched their youngest child graduate from high school. Her husband is now retired after serving 23 years in the Army, and she reminisces on some of the challenges she faced during those years. Raising three children, dealing with multiple deployments over the years, and keeping employment can be tough for military spouses.
“Working from home has been a huge help to me. Now, I can concentrate on being a caregiver to my husband and still be independent by having a job. Living with the current circumstances of this pandemic, I am thankful to be working from home! I am so grateful that Digital Works was there to give me an introduction to the remote world.”
