AT&T and Digital Works Offer Scholarships to Further High-Tech Training & Careers for Ohioans

Columbus, Ohio – Digital Works has teamed up with AT&T and Udacity to award scholarships for Nanodegrees to help Ohio adults develop high-demand technical skills.

Two Digital Works students have already been awarded AT&T Udacity Nanodegree scholarships through this partnership. Paul Johnson, of Logan, Ohio, and Anna Pollard, of West Union, Ohio, have each been selected to receive an AT&T Udacity Front-End Web Development Nanodegree $2,000 scholarship.

“The Digital Works, AT&T, and Udacity partnership offers a wonderful opportunity for Ohioans,” said State Rep. Ryan Smith (R-93 District). “Digital Works is helping to meet the demand in the quickly evolving technology marketplace, connecting adults with Internet-based employment opportunities, while the AT&T Udacity Nanodegree scholarships provide further support to those looking for advanced technology careers.”

AT&T and Udacity-funded Nanodegree scholarships are distributed through nonprofit organizations to students seeking careers in the tech industry. Nanodegrees are a new category of online education that connects people—no matter where they are—with affordable and effective training focused specifically on high-demand science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills.

“Ohioans are anxious to develop the skills needed in the digital economy, and AT&T is thrilled to partner with Digital Works and Udacity on Nanodegree scholarships,” said Adam Grzybicki, AT&T Ohio President. “I especially want to thank State Rep. Ryan Smith for all of his work in Columbus to support legislation to further incent broadband investment so all Ohioans can obtain the training and eventually careers in the twenty-first century workforce.”

“Digital Works has connected more than 400 Ohioans with digital jobs that include opportunities for advanced tech training,” said Stu Johnson, Vice President of the Digital Works program. “Grouped with the opportunity for tech-industry Nanodegrees from AT&T and Udacity, high-potential candidates in our program can excel even further.”

Digital Works Ohio locations have 20 scholarships to offer program participants throughout 2015. Each scholarship has an approximate value of $2,000 and enables students to complete one Nanodegree of their choice. The Nanodegree program is part of AT&T Aspire, AT&T’s signature education initiative to prepare students for success in school and the modern workforce.
