Virtual Military Spouse Employment Readiness Workshop Announced

Fort Campbell, Ky. (June 29, 2020) – Digital Works (DW) is partnering with Fort Campbell USO to host a free, virtual event on Thursday, July 16 from 2pm to 4pm to help military spouses improve their resumes and learn about remote work opportunities.

“Every few years our military families are moving to new facilities and cities as their loved one who is serving is transferred to new assignments,” said Jessica Golson, DW classroom facilitator. “I grew up in a military family and am now a military spouse myself, so I have experienced and witnessed how difficult it can be to find work each time you move. Not only is there a lag time that puts our military families in a bind financially but, sometimes, companies are unwilling to take a chance on you because they know you’ll likely be moving again. Remote work is not only a solution for this problem because the job moves with them but it provides a myriad of opportunities for our military spouses to grow their careers.”

DW is a one-of-a-kind job creation program developed by national nonprofit, Connected Nation, which has a mission to bring broadband access and related technologies to all people. The DW program goes beyond training and placement to encompass high-demand, telework professions.

Although the July 16 virtual event is geared toward military spouses, it is also open to transitioning service members, national guard/reserve, and recent veterans.  To register for the event or to learn more head to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/virtual-military-spouse-employment-readiness-workshop-tickets-109198385310.
