Margaret Nyamohanga told a good friend that she was in need of a job. That friend helped her by directing her to a help center where she heard about Digital Works. After contacting the staff at Digital Works and then completing training, Nyamohanga graduated in January 2016 and was hired by J.P. Morgan Chase. Within only a couple of months she was promoted and saw an increase in her income.
“I wouldn’t have had the confidence or resources to find a job like I did without Digital Works training,” Nyamohanga said.
She was able to learn skills that make it possible to complete her day-to-day work in a professional manner and assist customers, which is why Margaret believes she got promoted so soon.
“The training at Digital Works taught me to be an active listener with a customer, have empathy for the customer, and help him or her solve problems. [The training] really gave me the extra confidence I needed to realize that I can do the job well,” Nyamohanga explained.
Another aspect of her experience through Digital Works that she says helped her excel was the practice interview sessions. Nyamohanga says those skills helped her land a job almost immediately after completing training.
“Before we got practice with virtual interviews we had exercises on how to prepare for an interview; I remember how comfortable I became in speaking about my skills and any past experience I had that could relate to the jobs I wanted,” she said. “If you’re looking for opportunity, Digital Works is a great program with positive people that help you go out and face the workplace in a confident way with the right skills.”
