FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Digital Works, a Connected Nation initiative, will be opening a new facility in Fort Campbell, Ky that will help military spouses and veterans receive free job training and job placement for remote work opportunities.

“Access to remote jobs is crucial for many military families, who often are required to relocate,” said Alex Zapetis, Digital Works marketing specialist. “Here at Digital Works Fort Campbell, we are passionate about helping these spouses, veterans, and dependents find their place in the workforce. Having a new source of income can be so beneficial and freeing to these individuals.”

The mission at this new facility is to help bring work-from-home jobs to military spouses, veterans, and select dependents. Studies reveal that active-duty military spouses face a 24 percent unemployment rate. That means 1 in 4 military spouses are struggling to find employment.

After being accepted into the free grant-funded four-week program, participants complete the course with two certifications and have over 70 verified remote employers available for job placement.

Zapetis said working from home can be life-changing for many spouses and veterans, and helping them secure careers is the goal of Digital Works.

“We are excited to get our first class up and running. It currently is scheduled to begin the first week of February,” Zapetis said.” As we wait for classes to start, our new location has been under construction and has gotten a makeover.”

Local painters transformed the once-drab tan walls into a vibrant green and gray, new gray carpet, furniture, and electronics have been installed. Signage was recently erected.

“We are wanting to form a community within these walls,” Zapetis said. “When you take the program, you not only get help in securing a remote career, but you will also meet some amazing people. We will hold potlucks and gatherings frequently after graduation, and we will always be there for our students.”

In 2018, Digital Works launched a pilot program to address the needs of military spouses and veterans. Two classes were held in the Elizabethtown/Fort Knox, Kentucky area, and Connected Nation was inundated with applications and questions from those who were interested in taking part. The program was so successful that classes for military spouses and veterans have now been launched early this year in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Digital Works Fort Campbell is always accepting new students. With new classes starting every four weeks, registration can happen at any time. If you or anyone you know is interested in the program, signing up is simple. Just go to digitalworksjobs.org, click on the training tab, and then click register now.
