Digital Works’ first class of 2023 has highest number of graduates in 12 months

Hopkinsville, Kentucky (March 27, 2023) – In February, Connected Nation’s Digital Works program held its first class of 2023. This class was unique because it had the highest attendance of any class over the past year — 14 enthusiastic students completed the two-week course.

You might be wondering, what is Digital Works, and what does the program include?

The Digital Works program delivers digital skills and customer service training, and individualized career readiness support (resume, cover letter, interviewing, job application) focused on preparing participants to confidently and safely apply for and secure a work-from-home job. Classes are held virtually and facilitated live.

“The February Digital Works class was a wonderful blend of learners from varying walks of life, comfort levels with technology, and reasons they are motivated to pursue remote employment,” said Digital Works Facilitator Melissa Anderson. “It’s always a thrill to learn together and explore what is involved in setting up a home workspace, basic troubleshooting, how to stand out as a top candidate and ace the interview to get the offer.”

Participants also engage with each other by utilizing remote communication and collaboration tools while they upskill/refresh important skills. The February graduates had a lot of great things to say about the course and how it has helped them improve their digital skills and networking.

“My favorite part of the class was learning so much information from our instructor, Melissa Anderson, and learning how to rebrand myself for employers,” said Willie Pringle. “Just knowing we have a lifeline of connection after the classes ended was a plus for me.”

This one-of-a-kind opportunity allows participants to complete the training at no cost to them, thanks to grant funding. A program certificate is awarded upon, as well as an opportunity to sit for a nationally recognized customer service and sales specialist certifications. Graduates also benefit from access to the Digital Works vetted list of employers to further personalize job search support.

“I would tell others to take this class to build skills that are sometimes overlooked, to explore different opportunities in the workforce that are remote,” said Pringle. “This class came at a time in my life when I needed inspiration to present myself on a new level.”
