Fort Campbell, Kentucky (November 21, 2022) — Connected Nation is honored to name the Blue Star Families (BSF) Tennessee Chapter as Digital Works 2022 Community Partner of the Year.
BSF and other awardees were recognized at the Digital Works hub in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, during a press conference on November 15 that announced CN’s latest digital literacy learning and educational programs for teens, teachers, veterans, and military spouses in partnership with AT&T. Tennessee Chapter Director, Karissa Poe, was in attendance to accept the award.
BSF is a national nonprofit with a deep understanding of “the experiences and challenges encountered by military families since 2009.” The organization conducts an annual Military Family Lifestyle Survey to gauge this unique population’s top concerns.
“Blue Star Families works to connect the community with the military and local communities so that they can thrive together to feel like one large family,” said Digital Works Facilitator and Development Coordinator, Melissa Anderson. “We are beyond grateful for all of their work!”
Poe frequently shares the Digital Works training and career readiness support program information with her chapter’s membership. She also supports Digital Works graduates by sharing employment-related resources and opportunities.
“Military spouse unemployment and underemployment has continued to be one of the top five issues that we have seen on the military family lifestyle survey that BSF conducts every year,” said Poe. “We are grateful for the partnership and opportunity to refer our families to Digital Works to get trained in hopes to help bridge that gap we consistently see.”
Thank you BSF for being a shining light in the Fort Campbell community and a great partner to Connected Nation and Digital Works!
