Digital Works Marks its First Day of Classes in Fort Campbell Facility

Fort Campbell, KY (February 4, 2020) –Digital Works (DW) opened its doors yesterday to ten participants for the first day of classes at a new facility. It’s located across from Fort Campbell in southern Kentucky. This  location is focused specifically on bringing work-from-home jobs training and placement assistance to military spouses, veterans, and select dependents. Military spouses have some of the highest unemployment rates in the country.

The class started Monday, February 3, and will wrap up on February 28, 2020. Over four weeks, the students will learn a variety of marketable techniques such as typing, communication do’s and don’ts, customer service, resume building, and technical skills needed for optimal at-home computer usage. There will also be an emphasis on building  community and long-term support among classmates.

“Community is such an immensely important part of this program,” said Jessica Golson, Facilitator. “The students that are in this pioneer class will not only learn to rely on each other and hopefully make long-lasting friendships, but they will also serve as the first line of mentors for the program.”

Golson along with Digital Works Proctor, Alex Zapetis, will lead these classes every Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm. After four weeks, participants will complete the course with two certifications and have more than 70 verified remote employers available for job placement.

During the first class students spent a great deal of time getting to know each other, doing paperwork, and then jumped right into the modules in Drive—the training portal used to conduct Digital Works’ classes.

“We spent a little time getting to know each other and it was truly a sight to see how quickly bonds were formed, how easily chatter filled the room, and how closely they were able to relate to each other’s struggles and goals,” said Golson. “It just goes to show how much we all have in common in this military life and how fantastic this program can be as a resource for fellow spouses and veterans.”

The next classes are scheduled in March with morning and afternoon class time options. To register for classes, click the link here.
