Brad has an Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems and 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Despite having a comprehensive resume, Brad was unemployed and having trouble finding tech opportunities in the area. He began training at the Digital Works – Cheboygan location in February 2016 hoping the training would give him additional skills and help him continue a career in technology.
“I am taking the training program to increase my customer service skills,” said Brad. “I never really had any type of customer service training before.”
After graduating the program, Brad was offered a technical support positions with Support.com, a full-time, work-at-home position that offered benefits and advancement opportunity.
“I’m excited to start my career at Support.Com to better serve customers with technology problems and hopefully move up in the company to a management position,” Brad shared.
But wait—there’s more to this story. After completing the Digital Works program, Brad also received a local job offer in nearby Harbor Springs, Michigan. The company presented Brad with a computer technician position, starting at a higher hourly wage with full benefits and matching 401K. It was an offer he couldn’t refuse and he politely declined Support.Com to pursue this endeavor.
Brad’s focus and determination, along with his willingness to continue learning and growing his skills, opened multiple career opportunities for him.
