Franklin County Board of Commissioners grants $100,000 toward the Digital Works program in central Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Franklin County Board of Commissioners recently approved a resolution to give $100,000 toward job training services for Franklin County residents through the Digital Works program. Digital Works has already helped more than 500 Ohioans secure work since the program began in 2013. This funding is part of the county’s People Works program, which is a 5-year, $2.5 million investment in training opportunities for Franklin County residents and businesses.
“The most important and most exciting part of the job of a commissioner is to make a real difference in someone’s life, and People Works does just that,” said Board of Commissioners President, Marilyn Brown. “It is a direct help to local residents and families, connecting them to training, job placement, and ongoing employment services that enable them to not only get a job, but to create and maintain a career.”
Digital Works is opening two locations in central Ohio. The Digital Works facility at 6600 Busch Boulevard opened earlier this month and a second location, 280 Reeb Avenue, will be opening in a few weeks.
Digital Works connects people to leading-edge customer support and IT jobs for global corporations by providing training, mentorship, and job placement assistance, as well as the opportunity for advanced careers. Many program graduates benefit from the work-at-home opportunities available with the more than 20 Digital Works employer partners.
“Our groundbreaking program has been quite successful and we continue to grow because there is such a high employer demand for these types of jobs,” said Stu Johnson, Vice President of Digital Works. “The two Columbus locations will be our first urban facilities and we’re excited at the many possibilities. I’m thankful for the support of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners in making this happen and giving Franklin County adults modern career opportunities.
