Digital Works Impact

Below are two Digital Works graduate stories from the third quarter of 2015. These stories are featured in the Digital Works quarterly report delivered to the Ohio Development Services Agency, which is funding Digital Works efforts and programs in Ohio for 2015.

The Digital Works program has a 95% graduation rate and has connected nearly 500 Ohioans to positions with our 51 partner employers. Digital Works is proving to be an effective program that helps employers find the employees they need to succeed and grow. All the while, Digital Works participants are gaining access to skill training and resources needed to compete for in-demand jobs.

Amy, recently hired by Convergys, is excelling and hopes to advance quickly. An August 2015 graduate, Amy was new to the West Union area and having trouble finding work. She had been unemployed for over 7 months, despite having an impressive resume.

“I heard about Digital Works and thought it may be a great opportunity to be my own boss, which I’ve never done before,” shared Amy.

Amy was also drawn to the opportunities for advancement with the various employers partnering with Digital Works.

“I am here to gain employment to provide a better life for my family and start a new chapter in my career,” she said.

Pam came to Digital Works looking for a career change after devoting 19 years to the nursing home industry. It was not uncommon for Pam to work 16-hour days with a 40-mile commute, one-way. She graduated the Digital Works program in July 2015. Pam is currently employed by NexRep, where she has the opportunity to learn new skills and the flexibility to work from home.

“I need a job where my success rate is based on my work ethics and no one else’s.”
