Join Us at Fiber for the New Economy Conference

ReneTrueRené True, ConnectKentucky executive director and business development contact for Digital Works, will be presenting at the Fiber for the New Economy conference on September 15-18 in Lexington, Kentucky. René will be presenting in the “Broadband and Economic Development Professionals Working Together Successfully” session on Wednesday, September 16, at 1:40 p.m. The discussion will center on how any community – with adequate broadband capacity to the premise – can develop their local workforce to create talent pools for remote work-from-home job and career opportunities. These remote workforce opportunities rival traditional economic development recruitment efforts at much less cost per job. Highlighted will be success stories of a non-traditional workforce with significant barriers to employment, leveraging broadband technologies to find promising career opportunities working remotely from the comfort of their homes.

The presentation will include highlights about Digital Works, a program of Connected Nation, which connects people to leading-edge customer support and IT jobs for global corporations. Digital Works offers a technology and client-services training program, along with continued mentorship toward opportunities for advanced IT careers.
Digital Works is currently established in four states and looking to expand in a handful of others. In these four states, the program recently reached an important milestone: helping secure the 500th job for Digital Works graduates. Digital Works is providing graduates with the necessary resources to succeed.

Connected Nation is proud to be an exhibitor and sponsor of the Fiber for the New Economy conference. Presented by Broadband Communities Magazine and the Fiber to the Home Council Americas, the conference is geared toward the 12-state East/Central Region and will highlight essential resources for communities looking to upgrade broadband networks to remain competitive in the global economy.
