JCPenney Teams With Digital Works to Connect Central Ohioans With Career Opportunities

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Digital Works, a modern workforce development program led by Connected Nation, has partnered with the JCPenney Customer Care, located at the JCPenney Logistics Center in east Columbus, to connect job seekers in central Ohio with in-demand client support careers.

JCPenney Customer Care, off Brice Road in Columbus at 5555 Scarborough Boulevard, projects to hire more than 600 candidates in 2016. Typical positions include online sales and order taking, along with JCPenney account and rewards inquiries. Starting pay is $11 per hour and all full-time associates are eligible for health benefits on the first day of employment. JCPenney offers a variety of career advancement opportunities, including Corporate Customer Relations and Social Media Monitoring and Response. Additionally, JCPenney was named one of America’s Best Employers for 2015.

Customer Care entry level positions with JCPenney require six months to one year of experience. However, graduates of the 4-week Digital Works training program qualify for immediate placement in these positions because of the client support skills developed.

“JCPenney has always invested in the residents of the communities we are present in, and JCPenney Customer Care continuously strives for opportunities to give back to Central Ohio,” said Tim Hensley, Customer Care Recruiting Manager. “We are very excited to partner with Digital Works to develop and hire qualified job seekers from the area.”

Digital Works connects people to leading edge customer support and IT jobs for global corporations by providing training, mentorship, and job placement assistance, as well as the opportunity for advanced careers. Graduates of the Digital Works program have secured more than 600 jobs since it launched in 2013. The program currently has relationships with 55 employers and operates centers in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Texas. The Digital Works program will soon be offered in Mississippi through a partnership with Mississippi State University Extension.

“We are privileged to work with over 50 local, national, and global employers seeking our program graduates. We’re excited to add JCPenney, with its premier brand recognition, innovative customer support, and employee satisfaction, to that list,” said Stu Johnson, Vice President of Digital Works.
